140m Explorer Yacht Solaris Departs for Sea Trials
\n \t140m megayacht Solaris has departed the Lloyd Werft yard in Bremerhaven to undergo sea trials in the North Sea.
\n After her highly anticipated launch last month under the cover of heavy fog, the above images taken by Dr Duu reveal Solaris without her coverings and in all of her glory.
\nOne of the largest explorer yachts to ever be built, her sleek exterior design is a true evolution of her Lloyd Werft predecessor, 115m Luna. She features an ice-grey hull and white superstructure with a wrap-around arch connecting the hull on both sides, with a smaller white arch echoed on the large aft deck.\u00a0
\nLloyd Werft representative Marco Graudenz told Superyachts.com, \u2018Our focus is on building fully tailor made, bespoke megayachts. We enjoy developing the project from zero in close cooperation with the client and his team.\u2019
\nCommenting on the design, Marco was unable to disclose much information on the project. He did say: \u2018Technically, the true floor to ceiling glazing came with structural, transportation and sequence challenges and required careful consideration in the design and building phase.\u2019
\nSolaris is rumoured to have been designed by Marc Newson for Russian entrepreneur Roman Abramovich, though this is not confirmed.<\/p>\n
