Feadship Launches 94m Eco-Superyacht Project 817
\n \tA flurry of excitement surrounded the Feadship yard in Kaag today as the Dutch shipbuilders launched its highly anticipated eco-friendly superyacht – the 94m Project 817, now named VIVA.
\n Commissioned by\u00a0a repeat Feadship client, Project 817 was built for a yachtsman who is described as \u2018having chartered virtually every Feadship available in the global fleet\u2019. Already in possession of a 62m Feadship, Project 817\u2019s new Owner had a very specific brief – to keep the environmental output of the 94m at the same level as his significantly smaller superyacht.\u00a0
\nFeadship achieved this by installing an advanced hybrid propulsion, allowing Project 817 to cruise comfortably at 12 knots on diesel-electric power. All exhaust emissions are treated via the IMO Tier III catalytic converts and diesel particulate filters in this mode. This is backed up by a large battery bank to power the generator and power grid. She will reach a top speed in pure-diesel mode of 20 knots.\u00a0
\nIt does not stop there though. In addition to her eco-friendly propulsion, Project 817 hosts an onboard waste treatment plant and effective heat recovery systems to minimise energy wastage. Intensive efforts have gone into optimising the air-conditioning system to prevent excessive power consumption – an especially crucial feature considering her floor-to-ceiling windows which will allow for a much higher heat intake.\u00a0
\nIntricate glasswork has become a signature style of Feadship\u2019s in-house Studio De Voogt and Azure. Peter Marino Architects penned the superyacht\u2019s \u2018open beach-house-style interior\u2019 to complement this modern and airy feel. The Owner\u2019s minimalist taste is evidenced throughout every aspect of the design, notably in the yacht\u2019s clean lines, or the electric sliding doors in her superstructure.\u00a0
\nProject 817 features a particularly dynamic and efficient hull shape, painted in pearl-white livery and designed to reduce drag to the furthest extent.
\nThe megayacht is also equipped with the largest tender and longest hull doors seen on any Feadship to date.\u00a0
