Largest Superyacht Launches: SYCOM’s 2021 Predictions
\n \t2021 looks set to be one of the most fruitful years yet for the Top 100 world\u2019s largest yachts. We take a look at the largest yachts set to launch over the next 12 months, with exciting entries from the world\u2019s best known names in large yachting.
\n Vard\u00a0– 182.6m REV The highly anticipated \u2018research and explorer vessel\u2019 REV is set to complete next year after some delays. The world\u2019s most advanced research vessel, REV is a different breed of superyacht to our typical Top 100 predictions. Set to topple Azzam from her long-held throne as the largest superyacht in the world at 182.6m, REV is also committed to research and scientific missions as well as exploring the world\u2019s most remote and adventurous regions. We spoke with REV Ocean CEO Nina Jensen to learn more about REV\u2019s sustainability initiatives, some of which are already well underway.\u00a0\u00a0
\nOceanco – 127m Y721\u00a0 Y721 is a highly anticipated project in-build at the esteemed yard of the Dutch shipbuilders Oceanco.\u00a0 At 127m, Y721 is not only set to rank highly in the world\u2019s Top 100 largest mega yachts, but in the Top 10 of the world\u2019s largest sailing yachts also. Little else is known about this highly secretive project except that she is expected to launch sometime next year.\u00a0
\nOceanco – 109m Y720\u00a0\u00a0 Also in the shed at Oceanco, the world caught a glimpse of the 109m in-build superyacht Y720 earlier this year as she prepared for outfitting. Featuring Sinot exterior design and Lateral naval architecture, Y720 is expected to appear as a marvel of stylistic prowess and engineering. She is set to feature an \u2018astonishing\u2019 amount of glass around the deckhouses on the main, bridge, and upper decks, affording guests fantastic panoramic views as well as a technologically advanced propulsion system by Lateral.\u00a0
\nLurssen – 107m Project Icecap\u00a0 Sold in 2018 by Moran Yacht & Ship, Project Icecap is a 107m+ motor yacht who is said to be equipped with state-of-the-art technology in particular reference to energy saving and diesel electric propulsion. Icecap boasts a rugged explorer profile, a far cry from Lurssen\u2019s typically streamlined recent launches and suggesting a new venture for the yard in design and build. Icecap will weigh in at over 6500 GRT and come with extra energy efficiency, power storage and heating systems throughout in line with an advanced sustainable ethos from the German yard.\u00a0
\nFeadship – 95m Project 1009\u00a0 We last caught a glimpse of Feadship\u2019s 96m Project 1009 in September 2019 as the superyacht left Feadship\u2019s construction yard to undergo outfitting in Makkum. Expected for 2021 completion and delivery, Project 1009\u2019s sophisticated silhouette can be seen as having largely taken shape on her last sighting complete with a large swimming pool on the main deck aft.\u00a0
\nFeadship – 94m Project 817\u00a0\u00a0 Superyachts.com will be closely monitoring the progress of Feadship\u2019s 94m megayacht Project 817, who we had originally estimated to be launched this year. Last spotted in 2018 heading to Aalsmeer for outfitting, we estimate Project 817 may be one of Feadship\u2019s earliest launches of 2021 and by the looks of her unique superstructure outline certainly one of the most impressive.
\nLurssen – 90m Project 1601 After her technical launch earlier this year, we expect to see Project 1601 officially launched and showing off her brand new Espen Oino exterior at some point in 2021. Featuring an intriguingly geometric exterior including an angular hull and striking silhouette, this 90m superyacht certainly promises to provide much design inspiration upon completion – that is not to mention her D\u00f6lker + Voges bespoke interiors.\u00a0
\nFeadship – 88.3m Project 816\u00a0 Last but not least, we will also be keeping a close eye on Feadship\u2019s 88.3m superyacht Project 816. After moving to the yard\u2019s new Amsterdam facility for completion in May 2019, Feadship described the megayacht as \u2018futuristic\u2019 – which by the standards of their track record, is certainly saying something.<\/p>\n
