\n \tOn the topic of superyacht sustainability, it is important that the world\u2019s largest shipyards champion the approach of leading from the front. This is exactly the stance pioneered by Lurssen Yachts, producer of more Top 100 superyachts than any other shipbuilder in the world, who has just announced its partnership with the \u201850 Sustainability Climate Leaders\u2019 project.
\n The project has arisen as a means of the International Business Community to take effective action in the global fight against climate change. In cooperation with global news outlet Bloomberg, Lurssen is featured in a new documentary series discussing the actions of 50 Climate Leaders taken in accordance with the United Nations climate goals. Bloomberg has brought together a number of lead experts from various sectors for the series, to demonstrate the holistic action taken by global industry against climate change.\u00a0
\nThose unfamiliar with recent movements in the yachting industry would not be faulted for believing that shipyards and sustainability are inherently contradictory. Lurssen is one of a few key global figures fighting against this conception.\u00a0
\nIn the aim of promoting more sustainable products and processes, Lurssen is using its prowess in new technologies to innovate greener. The latest partnership is just one in a series of movements taken by the German shipyard including enormous investment in research and development around the world. \n\u2018A current project is the research of finding new ways to make better use of the power plant installed in a yacht,\u2019 says Managing Director Peter Lurssen. \u2018We are researching fuel cell technologies and by the end of the decade we should have emission free yachts sailing the oceans. The day-to-day challenge for us as shipbuilders is above all to integrate highly dependable, new technologies into a confined space, to enable trips to the most distant areas of the world and at the same time to meet the high demands of our customers for the quality, design and efficiency of our yachts.\u2019
\nLurssen is also a key supporter of the Blue Marine Foundation, an organisation dedicated to ocean conservation by means of pronouncing marine protected areas and preserving their biodiversity.\u00a0
