Largest Superyacht of 2020: 142m Opus Begins Sea Trials
\n \tThe most highly anticipated superyacht of the year, and arguably even longer, has begun her first sea trials.
\n The largest yacht to be launched this year according to Superyachts.com\u2019s 2020 predictions is of course 142m Opus (previously Redwood). The yacht has today been spotted embarking upon her first sea trials in the North Sea, as seen in the published images courtesy of Dr Duu.\u00a0
\nNavigating the channel from the Lurssen shipyard to the North Sea, Opus casts a striking contrast against the rural pastures of her surroundings. The Nuvolari Lenard design has proved an exceptionally divisive one, and there is no doubt that her vertical grill and multi-toned superstructure goes sharply against the grain of Lurssen\u2019s 100m+ fleet.\u00a0
\nLove her or hate her, it is difficult not to be impressed by the sheer magnitude of Lurssen\u2019s latest giant. Incredibly, at 142m Opus ranks in at the 11th largest superyacht in the world. Lurssen\u2019s 2013 launch Azzam remains firmly at the top spot of the world\u2019s largest superyacht, at 180.6m.\u00a0
\nInitially conceived as a 139m+ project, the superyacht build was signed and managed by Moran Yacht & Ship as announced at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2015. Robert Moran told the Breaking News Centre at the time, \u2018This is totally a different beast. It\u2019s not just a big yacht – it has so many unique features.\u2019
